Playful Planet Donations: Thanks to You!
Playful Planet donates a portion of every one of your purchases to causes that support children, the environment, and the world community. We select A+ causes with the highest integrity and minimal administration costs. At this early stage of our development, we are able to donate 1% of our sales to these organizations. Our goal is to grow that percentage as we grow our brand.
For each title in our Storyland Activity Series that we create, we will choose specific organizations that will receive the funds designated for giving. We welcome your suggestions!
Below are a few of the organizations we have selected that are impacting change for children, the environment, or the world community.
Alec Loorz has been winning awards and receiving press for years now. He is 15 years old and founded Kids vs Global Warming when he was 12 years old after watching Al Gore’s movie, “An Inconvenient Truth.” Feeling the weight of the global situation and a sense that he could make a difference, Alec felt compelled to tell other kids about the problems we are facing. His message is deeply rooted in hope, encouraging kids to speak up and let their voices be heard on this issue. Alec created a presentation made specifically for youth, full of videos, animation, easy-to-understand science, and compelling motivation for kids K-college ages. He gave over 30 global warming presentations before being invited by Al Gore to be formally trained with the Climate Project in October of 2008. He is now the youngest trained presenter with The Climate Project.
“Save the Whales’ purpose is to educate children and adults about marine mammals, their environment, and their preservation. Save the Whales was founded in 1977 when Maris Sidenstecker was 14 years old, and focuses on educating the public, especially children, about marine mammals and the fragile ocean environment. They believe children, the future of the planet, need to be empowered and know that their actions can promote change. Education is the key to saving whales, oceans, and ourselves.”
The Playing For Change Foundation (PFCF) is dedicated to connecting the world through music by providing resources (including, but not limited to: facilities, supplies, and educational programs) to children, musicians and their communities. The first music school, built in South Africa, provides a safe, creative outlet for the children while connecting them to other students around the world through music. It is the first school of its’ kind in the area and will be a source of great pride and inspiration for years to come. With your help, PFCF is planning new music schools in the countries of Nepal, Mali, and Ghana, as well as developing programs at existing schools and communities in the United States.
