I never got back to this blog following the camping / music festival we went to (Live Oak Festival.) I had reported that I was packing up several healthy dishes to keep us satiated so we wouldn’t have to dive off the deep end into old eating patterns (think meat, dairy, exessive sugar, etc.) It worked! For the most part, we were able to keep our eating pretty clean without being too strict. Bryan veered a little farther from the ‘straight and narrow’ than I did (drinking beer with his buddies and chowing down on some lamb and chicken curry, for example,) and because it was so hot, (and because their product is so delicious!,) we both ate some popsicles from Bella Pops.
So to me, the true test is how are we doing as we move further away from the cleanse. I am happy to report that my eating habits have been Rebooted! I am not chomping at the bit to get back to meat, dairy or excessive sugars – the latter of which is typically my downfall. I am finding some great replacements for sweet treats – including rice cakes with peanut butter and honey, and the amazingly satisfying Luna & Larry’s Coconut Bliss (coconut ice cream,) — non-dairy and sweetened with plant-based agave — I think it may even be good for you!!
So, I am thrilled at how I am doing so far, and since I do the majority of shopping and food preparation, it is having a good effect on my family. I will talk some more about that the next time around. For now…
Stay Playful,
Playful Karen

Thanks so much for the Coconut Bliss shout out! I’m deligthed to hear that the reboot was worth it and you’re feeling better!
